The Nervous Passengers' Guide to Flying, by Tug Wilson

More about the book

Reason for writing this book

To try and answer most of the questions that fuel the fears of nervous flyers. Questions such as:

"How do aeroplanes stay up?"

"Is flying safe?"

"What’s turbulence all about?"

"What about engine failures?"

"What was that noise?"

With those questions answered, who knows, you may change..

from this... ....to this

The book is also packed with information regarding the airlines, the weather and many other aviation related subjects. It takes the reader all the way from check-in to baggage claim, concentrating mainly on the flying and safety aspects.

Style of the book

120 pages, larger than usual font and broken into bite-sized chunks in order to be easy to read on an aircraft. It is an easy on the eye, humorous and conversational style as if the author is sat next to you on the aeroplane. There are sketched diagrams to help explain the slightly confusing bits, but the whole thing is explained in simple to understand language.

What will the book do for you?

It is not designed to "cure" a full blown fear of flying. However, it will arm you with lots of information that will explain what is going on around you when you fly away on holiday. In a lot of cases, just knowing what is happening will be enough to calm you down and hopefully you will enjoy the whole experience of flying.

Why should you trust me?

I’m an experienced pilot and flying instructor and have a degree in Flight Safety. However, I don’t fly for the airlines so have no corporate line to plug, and am not trying to generate business for them. Therefore, what I say is completely unbiased and not driven by any company loyalty. Many people have asked me questions about flying over the years so this book has grown out of that. I want people to enjoy flying and if I can sell a few books along the way then all the better.
